Re: OpenVNS 2005 Buss. CD 5.0

Chris,

I haven't looked at the Business Solutions CD recently. To use OpenVMS (in some flavor), you need to have:
- a VAX
- an Alpha
- an Itanium
- a WinTel box running either Charon or [possibly] SIMH.

The Business Solutions CD MAY be accessible as a conventional CDROM on a PC/MAC platform, that would depend if it was produced with dual structures (ISO-9660 and FILES-11).

A more important question is: What do you want to accomplish?

Re: OpenVNS 2005 Buss. CD 5.0

Chris,

I am working at a slight disadvantage here as I do not have a copy of the business solutions CDROM with me at this instant. However ...

First, a description of the Business Solutions CDROM can be found at http://h71000.www7.hp.com/business_solutions_cd.html.
Working from the description, I expect that the CDROM is straightforwardly is ISO 9660, and therefore readable on a Windows system with a CDROM reader. I would recommend that you use your XP system to read the CDROM, some of the media file types may be problematical on Windows ME.

The Business Solutions CDROM contains literature, presentations, and other background material concerning products and solutions available on OpenVMS.

I hope that the above is helpful.

Re: OpenVNS 2005 Buss. CD 5.0

Chris,

Actually, I would suspect that your Celeron does not disqualify you.

Pentium IIs are, by current standards, often rather slow. Many Celerons actually can be faster.

I would not let the lack of a Pentium II stop you.
