Re: Pathwork not access

What are the protections on the VMS system
for a problem file? Who owns it?

Is this a new problem? What has changed?

Re: Pathwork not access

You may have to rejoin the domain.
Notice that there is a password between the Pathworks server end the domain controllers which gets changed every 7 days. If you restore Pathworks files from backup, you probably restore a old password. There are some (windows) tools around to get them in sync again, but removing Pathworks from the domain (make it standalone) and rejoining has always worked for me.

Re: Pathwork not access

Re: Pathwork not access

Amjad,

You wrote: "restore to another empty disk and restore some files from old disk "

Did the physical system disk change? For example, it used to be DUA1: and now it is DUA2:?

Do any PATHWORKS shares or connections work? Can you connect to any share that works? Do $ ADMINISTER SHOW SHARE to see the shares that you have defined on your system and try as many as you can. (Do ADMINISTER HELP for more information on using ADMINISTER commands).

Are the shares that you get errors on located on the system disk?

What is the exact pathworks version:

$ @sys$manager:pwrk$define_commands
$ pwver

Are all of the PATHWORKS processes running:

$ pwsho

Re: Pathwork not access

Can you connect to and use ANY share on this server, or, are all of them not working? How many different ones have you tried?

You wrote: "when i add share i don't know where i can found the path in the server"

I don't understand that statement. Can say more about this? Can you give us an example of what you are trying to do?

It would be helpful to include more specific detail about what you are trying to do - examples and screen captures would go a long way to helping you out.

What is the exact error you are seeing when you connect?

Re: Pathwork not access

Show us the output from

ADMINISTER SHO SHARE AHMAD

You might have to login to ADMINISTER to execute that command - I assume you have a valid username and password and can log in? If not, that might tell you something about your problem.

Adter doing the SHO SHARE command, please validate that the OpenVMS path is valid.

Re: Pathwork not access

Amjad -

My PATHWORKS is a bit rusty - I should have said "ADMINISTER SHO SHARE /FULL AHMAD". The output from that command should give the the OpenVMS directory specification for the share AHMAD. I am interested in seeing if that is a valid VMS file specification. To validate the specification, you might do a "$DIR dir-spec".

We also might want to take this offline. I can be reached at my last name at sciinc dot com.

Re: Pathwork not access

OK, now I know that the share AHMAD points to the directory, DKB100:[000000].

Does DKB100:[000000] exist on your system?

$ DIR DKB100:[000000]
