Quick way to determine nic identities?

I have an Alphaserver ES47 M4 box which has four nics, two in the top, 1 in the middle and one in the bottom. The system sees them as ewa, ewb, ewc, and ewd. They are in the lla device as failover members. I am trying to find the easiest way to determine the identity of each nic, a, b, c, and d. Thanks for any replies.

Re: Quick way to determine nic identities?

Mike,

$ ANAL/SYS
SDA> CLUE CONFIG
...
SDA> EXIT

shows the devices and their slot numbers. This may help to figure out, which LAN interface is which. It will also show the hardware device name or their HW-Id.

Volker.

Re: Quick way to determine nic identities?

Excellent point Volker, there they are with what appears to be the pci slot numbering. Thanks a ton.

1) Enable reply and unplug the cable to see which device reports as off line.

2) Look at the switch counter statistics and force fail over switch making sure traffic is being generated. Repeat and confirm. Determine which port became "active" and which went off line.

Make sure to label the ports afterwards for the next guy.
