SAN storage cache

Does any one know how I can find out the cache available to an MS1000 SAN storage.

Is it a good idea to enable the SAN cache for read\write

Don,

Using the CLI on the MSA1000 controller, you can issue the command
CLI> SHOW THIS_CONTROLLER
Somewhere in the output there is a section about the cache.
Also with the command
CLI> SHOW GLOBALS
you can see the amount of cache used.
With the command
CLI> SET GLOBALS READ_CACHE=nn WRITE_CACHE=nn
you set the percentages of the cache used for reading and writing.
When creating LUNs, you can specify if the array controller cache must be used for that LUN or not ( ADD UNIT n CACHE=ENABLE/DISABLE ). You can change that setting also after creation ( SET UNIT n CACHE=ENABLE/DISABLE ).

Hope this helps,
