SNMP Community Password Change

In responding to monthly Critical Watch Scans that run each month on our network. I have several older Digital VNSWITCH 900EF AND DECHUB900 MULTI-SWITCHes that I'm trying to find a way to change the default COMMUNITY password string. Does anyone know how or if this can be done? If so where does one make the changes? I searched the manuals.

Re: SNMP Community Password Change

We also have some hub900's left.
You manage them with a snmp program on NT.

We use Clearvision but don't change anything.

There is a program tcpip$snmp_request that allows you to modify snmp settings (SET). But I don't have a test device so I will not try it out.

Re: SNMP Community Password Change

Found these documents of which I have some on paper.

https://ulisse.elettra.trieste.it/area/projects/blcs/hardware/digital/network/

The network configuration explains VLAN manager of ClearVisn.

Re: SNMP Community Password Change

I decided to give it a go thru snmp. I can modify the read-only password by doing :

mc tcpip$snmp_request ip_hub set 1.3.6.1.4.1.36.2.18.11.2.5.2.1.0 "D" "publid"

but after that it seems to continue to as if it wasn't changed.

So, go for the serial console.
