I have a PWS600au with Linux/Alpha installed on it. I also have a BA350 with two disks. One of them has VMS 7.3-1 on it.
I wish to boot from that disk and perform a restore of the local system disk, because the PWS600 has an IDE CD-ROM (for the moment).
When I boot and get to the SRM prompt, I see my PKA controller but not the disks 200 and 300.
What would you do to have vms installed as fast as possible?
Merci beaucoup.

SolutionIt sounds like you have a hardware problem preventing the disks in the BA350 from being visable.
What sort of IDE CDROM is it? Some are ok to boot from

Re: swap PWS600au from Linux to VMS ?
I have the wrong one (checked with the faq and actually tried to boot from it).
I also guess that I may have a termination problem, as my BA has a

Re: swap PWS600au from Linux to VMS ?
Is the internal onboard scsi connected to a connector on the back of the box or is it another card and if so what card?
I guess you have a cable from the back of the PWS to the BA350 IO personality module - what connectors do you have on that. Is there another cable from that to another BA350?

Re: swap PWS600au from Linux to VMS ?
since you came from *X, is your console variable OS_TYPE set to OPENVMS?
If not, then make it so.

Re: swap PWS600au from Linux to VMS ?
Good guess. And I found that I do have two PK cards. I plugged the BA in the other one and now all is fine. There maybe a terminator in one card and not in the other one.
re: Jan
I did.
Now let's experiment MOP boot... :-)
