TCPIP Service - can increase sb_max value? Any minimum requirement?
we found that sb_max default value for our system environment not enough, but I do not know what is the maximum value can be set for sb_max and what is the minimum requirement to increase sb_max value? Can I set to 2,000,000?

Wee Chai,
welcome to the OpenVMS ITRC forum!
You have not indicated which version of TCP/IP Services you are running, but the following link should give you the information you require to increease sb_max.
I did not see a maximum value indicated..

Re: TCPIP Service - can increase sb_max value? Any minimum requirement?
Hi Duncan,
Thanks for your reply. So far, I can't find any document about the limit of sb_max. There's a worry whether they server cannot serve the higher value of sb_max. :(

Wee Chai

Re: TCPIP Service - can increase sb_max value? Any minimum requirement?
AFAICT, no limit is documented here.
I don't know that it's tied into this particular area, but also check the setting of MAXBUF system parameter and the process BYTLM quota.
Try setting sb_max to a big number, and see what happens. Or contact the HP TCP/IP Services support folks directly, and ask for the official (supported) limit.
