Upgrade Path OpenVMS

Can someone confirm I'm correct with the following statement.
To upgrade from OpenVMS V6.2-1H3 to V7.3-2.
I will need to upgrade
From V6.2-1H3 to V7.2
Then
V7.2 to V7.3-2

Is this correct ?

Thanks
Kevin

Re: Upgrade Path OpenVMS

If you are currently running OpenVMS Alpha Version 6.2x through 7.1x, you must
do a two-step upgrade: first to Version 7.2-2 or 7.3, and then to Version 7.3-2.

Could I get away with going to V7.2 from V6.2-1H3. I dont think we have a V7.2-2 OS disk.

You can go from V6.2-1H3 to V7.2 then V7.3-2

My info came from the release notes

Re: Upgrade Path OpenVMS

My co-worker recently upgraded a very old alpha from 6.2-1h3 (I think) to v7.3-2 but the firmware needed to be upgraded. We found the needed firmware on a v7.2 (or v7.2-2) firmware distribution. The firmware was not included with the firmware distribution that came with v7.3-2 because it was that old. We have not seen any problems with the v7.3-2 installation .

Re: Upgrade Path OpenVMS

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I did indeed upgrade the Firmware to the latest version available for a Alpha 4100 and will be doing the same for an Alpha 2100 that also needs to be upgraded.
I have now upgraded the Alpha 4100 from V6 to V7.3-2 via V7.2-1.

Thanks
