Re: Very slow connections

Antonio,

Can you exclude the hub-switch for testing purposes? Try to attach a PC with a cross cable direct to the alpha, to see if the alphas NIC card is faulty.

Re: Very slow connections

Bojan,
no at moment because system is working for all users.
Other information:
they exist two logical network, 1st with A/S and alpha 400 as server based on NT3.51 layer, and 2nd it is workgroup.
Workgroup works fine.

Re: Very slow connections

Antoniov,

I too would be very careful about autonegotiation (I had exactly that syndrome when moving large volumes of data between systems over the LAN).

You want the Alpha to be in FULL-DUPLEX mode, not HALF-DUPLEX mode generally, and lock the speeds at whatever they should be on BOTH the switch and the servers.

However, this generally causes Timeout errors, not bad CRC. Bad CRC and similar "Content" errors are an indication of a problem with either the NICs, cabling, or intermediate switches, routers, or hubs.

Re: Very slow connections

Thank to allbodies.
Changed switch: no solved.
On 13:00 local time, changed NIC and problem solved.
Now system goes at 10mbs, halp duplex even if connected to hub-switch 10/100. However it works and I don't want change anything.
