Found it missing by trying to run AUTOGEN.
Nobody will own up to deleting it.....
Can this be easily regenerated ? Or copied from another v.7.3 system ? Does this file change through applying ECO's ?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, points will be awarded for this one !

SolutionIt's not modified by anything, so no problems replacing it from installation media, backup or a system with the same version (see attachment, assuming it survives the internet). Run AUTOGEN to regenerate VMSIMAGES.DAT
However, I'd be concerned about what else might be missing? Maybe put an AUDIT ACE on it, ACCESS=W+D+S+F, so that if anyone does it again, you'll have evidence.

Re: VMS$IMAGES_MASTER.DAT
First tried cut and pasting the file from one system to another. Type it out on one screen, cut and paste to another screen. It worked except that the entry for loginout.exe got truncated. Not all the privileges were set. Caused nasty hard to find problem. Fixed it by FTP'ing file from one site to another
So short answer is yes you can copy from another system.

Re: VMS$IMAGES_MASTER.DAT
In other words, those anonymous privileged accounts that are sometimes necessary for such things as booting, or database maintenance, etc, should be set /NOinteractive !
