VMS732_SYS-V1200 references non-existent VMS732_DCL-V0800

I was looking at downloading the VMS732_SYS-V1200 patch and noticed the following:

4.2 In order to receive all the corrections listed in this kit,
the following remedial kits, or later, should also be
installed:

- VMS732_DCL-V0800

I went to look for this DCL patch and could only find the V0700. Does anybody know if the V0800 is coming soon?

DCL V0800 will be out "soon", but I don't know how soon.

Dale,

VMS732_SYS-V1300 just has shown up and contains the following:

5.2.1 VMS732_SYS-V1200 Patch Kit Release Notes Incorrect

5.2.1.1 Problem Description:

The release notes shipped with the VMS732_SYS-V1200 patch
kit included a description of a new $GETDVI item code and
an associated requirement to install the VMS732_DCL-V0800
patch kit. This description is not applicable to OpenVMS
V7.3-2 and has been removed.

I just checked the kit, and the V1300 SYS kit
will have the IO_ROUTINES execlet with the newly-added item codes, but I guess that there will be no formal support for them, which is why they are now technically undocumented.

That's not a surprise, since support for V7.3-2 ended at the end of 2006.

OpenVMS Alpha V7.3-2 is still supported as a prior version and will be for quite a while yet.

While V7.3-2 is certainly eligible for PVS, we do not tend to release general-purpose patch kits once a version is off standard support.

If a customer with PVS has a problem, they'll be provided a fix, but that fix will not likely make it out for the public.

fibre_scsi v10.0
trace v3.0
dwmotif_eco2 v1.3-1
update v11.0
audsrv v4.0
ddtm v2.0
xfc v4.0
sys v12.0
sys v13.0
opcom v2.0

Dale,

VMS732_DCL-V0800 has just been announced. As the DCL image inside this kit is from 20-JUL-2006, I don't believe that this kit will provide the 'new functionality' promised in VMS732_SYS-V1200 and revoked in VMS732_SYS-V1300.

Volker, as always, is correct.

However, this kit *will* have the unsupported backport of the f$multipath lexical function that first appeared in V8.2.

Robert,

I am a little bit confused with your entry.
Maybe it is the lack of my language knowledge.

Would you so kind and clarify the last sentence of your statement?
IS the DCL-V0800 a backport or is there an itention to do this => *will*?
If it is an backport that would explain the creation date of the 20-Jul-2006.
Or it is a backport of V8.2 but the F$MULTIPATH function is not yet implemented?

Or it it neither...
please so kind and give a short explanation of this DCL-V0800 patch with the creation date od 20-Jul-2006.
I appreciate your feedback.
Many thanks for your patience

Your question is quite reasonable; I was quite sloppy with my use of the future tense with respect to the contents of DCL V0800.

This kit (DCL V0800) *does* contain the lexical function f$multipath. This function first appeared in V8.2; it's documented both in the DCL manual and in the online help. The online help has an example of its use.

For V7.3-2, it's unsupported, meaning that the customer support centre might not answer any questions about it, but as it is literally the same code for V8.2 and V8.3 (I just cut-and-pasted it), I don't expect there will be any problems with its use in V7.3-2.
