						Hi,
need some help on the above. I have OS disk read error in one of my TRU64 v4.0D box. I can still access the system so far but i think i should replace the disk asap.
I dont have 4.0D media. I have only 4.0F. Can i use that for recovery purposes? I just need to boot the cd to get unix shell
put a new disk, partition it, create fs & mount it and restore from tape.
I hope i could boot the new disk after that.
is that possible?
Rgds

I don't see why not. You can boot anything
off a CD (even VMS). I wouldn't expect the
disk format or file system details to differ
significantly (if at all) between 4.0x and
4.0y.

						Hi,
Yes. 4.0F will happily read vdumps from 4.0D machines.
I do this on a far too regular basis with no problems...
Cheers,
Rob
