Academic Question - AdvsFS and TruCluster.
An entirely theoretic question: After Tru64 was abandoned, and HP gave up on porting AdvFS to HP-UX, is the above technologies completely dead, or are some of it used by other vendors or in other products? As far as I remember some of the cluster/CFS-technology is used by Oracle, but what about the rest?
Thanx in advance.
Yours
Danny

Re: Academic Question - AdvsFS and TruCluster.
As you say, there was initially talk about porting AdvFS to HP-UX, however that was abandoned in favour of Veritas.
As far as I'm aware AdvFS isn't being developed any further by any vendor, which is a real shame.
It is still by far the best Unix file system (IMHO).
I seem to recall that one of the senior people behind TruCluster moving over to RedHat, which I had hoped would mean that some of the technologies came across, but they don't appear to have done so far...
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Academic Question - AdvsFS and TruCluster.
And I agree with Rob, it is a real shame.
TRU cluster is (was) the very best clustering solution in unix world and advfs is still best file system.
As you said, Oracle is using some of TRU cluster technology.
I hope some day AdvsFS and TruCluster will be ported to linux.
