Alpha ds20 SCSI controller

I just got the old server from work, it still contains the harddrives (IBM DGHS 09Y)but the IT guys remove the CPU and the controller. so my plan is to use the harddrives in my server at home, but what kind of scsi controller do i need ? does an Adaptec AHA-2944UW work together with thoose drives or maybe the AHA-2940UW ?

I don't understand the question. What server do you have at home? What OS?
Please, give more details.

Re: Alpha ds20 SCSI controller

I got this old Compaq Alpha DS20 server from work it contains 7 SCSI harddrives (IBM DGHS 09Y) and a DAT backup.
what i was looking for was a SCSI controller for the harddrives.
But i think i found out.
The Adaptec 2944UW only works with HVD disks and since the disk that are in the Alpha DS 20 server are SCSI LVD disks i need to find another controller like the Adaptec 2940UW.

Since the IT guys removed the CPU, memory and the SCSI controller from the Alpha DS20 server(it's to expensive for me to by thoose parts), i'm gonna use thoose disks in my own server.
It's just a home made server with a an old AMD XP 1900 CPU and 1 gb of mem, i'm using it for harddisk recording in my studio.

But i think i solved the problem, but thanx anyway.

Re: Alpha ds20 SCSI controller

Please take another look at the title of this discussion. It is networking.

You'd be much better off trying to find a more appropriate forum for a question on SCSI buses or what ever, but this is not a networking question.

Good luck.
