SolutionI guess you are ok. Looks like these backups are incremental type, meaning only when there are changes it is backed up.
Please read the link below
http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/base_doc/DOCUMENTATION/V50A_HTML/MAN/MAN8/0347____.HTM
It just implies that on some file systems some directories and files have not been changed since the last incremental and as a result of this those are omitted.

Re: Backup Doubt
In the link that i provided in my earlier response, concentrate on the following text
The commands perform either an incremental backup, level 9 to 1, or a full backup, level 0, depending on the desired level of backup and the level of previous backups recorded in the /etc/vdumpdates file.
Note that an incremental dump only captures the files that have changed, ignoring all others. This means that if you perform a level 0 dump and a later incremental dump, deleted files are not marked as gone(deleted). If you then do a complete restore with a level 0 saveset and incremental backups, the deleted files will be restored. You must then delete these
files individually.
Hope this answers your query

Re: Backup Doubt
with what you posted I could see not problem.
Everything is backed up 100%
Could you pinpoint us to the area?
Of course it may happen, that a file from the time of backup start until vdump actually puts it on tape, it is deleted.
The vdump complains and you may have lesse then 100%
Important are the lat lines before dump completed.
vdump does during a long backup state the
progress how far it has got. Do not mistake that for the end result.

Michael

Re: Backup Doubt
Bruno was referring to the lines like below
vdump: Status at Wed Mar 17 04:02:22 2004
vdump: Dumped 7153822946 of 9024045157 bytes; 79.3% completed
vdump: Dumped 6 of 11 directories; 54.5% completed
vdump: Dumped 214 of 361 files; 59.3% completed
where in it says 'DUMPED 214 of 361 files; 59.3% completed"....
this is because of the incremental nature and it means that of the total of 361 files only 214 have changed since the last incremental...thats the reason

Re: Backup Doubt
The vdump output gives you a status message every 5 minutes, so don't worry about that, just look at the last and make sure it says 100% for files and folders
vdump -0uf /dev/nrmt0h gives you a FULL backup
