C-ISAM file
Hi,
Does anyone know about C-ISAM files? This is data file and I don't know how to extract information from it.
All your support is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: C-ISAM file
C-isam. Often used by Micro Focus Cobol applications. was Informix, now IBM.
Surely a system having C-Isam files has informix libraries and utilities to manipulate that data?! Just look around on your system?
There seems to be some useful info in:
http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/7897b.pdf
and
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/informix/cisam/
It suggests that for data export you can pretty much ignore the .idx file and just read the .dat file?!
google for +unix +"c-isam" +extract or +convert gives several tools / vendors, notably interfacting towards SQL databases:
uvdh
http://www.uvsoftware.ca/libuvhd.htm
Accelr8
Easysoft SQI-ISAM Driver
syncsort
http://www.syncsort.com/sort/unix/benefits.htm
Good luck!
Hein.
