Cant login with su - map password error
I have this issu: If try to login from console with user root it says:
LPL0038: MapLookup: PLS0032: Key root doesn't exist in Map passwd.
The user root exist, its in /etc/passwd and the password is correct. There is a line /dev/console in /etc/securettys
Whay could be the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Mariano.

Re: Cant login with su - map password error
There is a line /dev/console in /etc/securettys
<<<
you don't need "su -" then, you can login directly with user root at the (graphics)console.
seems to me some other application than standard unix executed during the login process produces this error
you can try "su" without the "-" to not executing the logon script.

To Pieter 't Hart:
I can't login into the console (windows hyperterminal) conected with RS-232 cable.
There is no su because we use a soft called Symark. It's a company policy. To acces root we run "pbrun su" and it works.

Re: Cant login with su - map password error
"Cant login with su - " does NOT mean you are using the "su" command.
instead the "su" command you use the "pbrun su" command wich starts some Symark utility.
Does Symark have a forum?

Re: Cant login with su - map password error
Access from console:
login: root
password: XXXXX
its what not works.
Forget "su -"

Re: Cant login with su - map password error
must be ignored.
your problem should be described as "you cannot login directly on the serial console with user root"
is that correct?
i think you need to dive into the Symark documentation
(A list of error codes is available in the PowerBroker documentation set)

Re: Cant login with su - map password error
I will read about symark issues, but I don't think I will find the answer.
I hava another tru64, with the same configuration and it works.
thanks.
