check system errors

Hi

I have a HPUX 5.1b box and the last two mornings the system has been shutdown. Is the some commands I can run to find out what the system was reporting? I did a dia -R|more but it does not report anything for the last two days. One message that was on the controller was "shelf 2 has a bad power supply or fan, shelf 1 fixed"

is there a crash dump in /var/adm/crash or anything in /var/adm/messages
?

in my /var/adm/messages there was nothing for the last two days. in /var/adm/crash however I do have a crash-data.5 for today.

the other files I have in /var/adm/crash for today are:
binlogdumpfile
bounds
crash-data.5
vmunix.5
vmzcore.5


what files should I be looking at?

If you don't have crash data on /var/adm/crash, then you should look into the /var/adm/syslog.dated directory, you will find directories which names are dates. Enter into the directory that has the date of the problem, and check the log files, kern.log, daemon.log, etc.

You can also use the show power command at the SRM prompt, the alpha console:

>>> show power
