Hi guys. I have an AlphaServer DS25 with 4GB RAM and swap space allocated is 12GB and I want to reduce the swap area to 4GB because the Oracle instance running in the system doesn't use very often this area. Is there a way to do it online or it will cause a downtime??? I would like some help on this. Thanks.

Solution
I would maintain a good swap space for oracle, like 8 GB. Anyway, you cannot reduce the swap space online, you must enter in single user, and change the size of the partition. Also, if you change the size of the partition, you will have problems to use the remaining space as you probably already have the g or h partition on the disk, you have to delete that partition to modify the start cylinder.

Re: Decrease swap space
Ok. I guess I won't be able to reconfigure the partitions because the system is already in production stage. Thanks a lot anyway. It's a good tip for future implementations.
