Hello all
I 've experienced about vdump problem when vdump require more tapes. It will prompt following message
--------------------
vdump: out of space and unable to prompt input for new tape; [25] Not a typewriter
vdump: informational: [13] posting event: sys.unix.fs.advfs.fset.backup.error
If running in single user mode, EVM is not running.
Please ignore this posting.
--------------------
I suspect that when vdump use first tape until end of tape . It will eject tape and send message to request more tape for a while. After retrying,it will abort vdump and do next action after vdump command.
How can I know when It require second tape ? Because no operator will always watch the terminal console. Can It send the email to operator ? Please suggest me. Thank you.

Solution
Hi,
an email won't do you no good because vdump will not wait. As the message says there is no terminal attached and thereby no means how you could signify to vdump that you changed the tape. You could only let vdump run on a terminal or split the domains in two parts. Then after the first one is finished send an email and wait for a second tape to be inserted.
greetings,
Michael
