Error when running setld -l for java142-4 on tru64

I've dwnloaded java142-4.tar from the HP web site, then:

1. FTPied it to my Tru64 box to /tmp/java

2. cd /tmp/java

3. tar xf java142-4.tar

4. setld -l /tmp/java

5. Specified option 3

6. Confirmed "y"

But i'm getting the following error:

gzip: stdin: corrupt input.

Can anyone help?

Annick,

When you ftp the file to your system make sure that you are setting the file transfer mode to "BIN"

Also make sure that you are downloading the Java SDK kit and not the JRE.

Java142-4.tar

Then copy the file into your /tmp/java directory.

Next, change directory into /tmp/java and unpack the kit like this:

# tar -xvf java142-4.tar

Now you are ready to install the kit with this command:

# setld -l .

Select Option 3: to install the mandatory and all optional subsets...

It should go on with no problems.

We have done all the things you have mentioned.

We are getting the error when we choose the option 3 and confirm Yes.

The error that we get is 'gzip: stdin: corrupt input'

Yes we already checked. Unix checksum does not match the checksum on the website. We're thinking there might be a problem with the tru64 sdk java142-4 file available for download itself?

Hi,

An additional info: we tried downloading the sdk tru64 java142-4 file 3 times and it gives the same error each time and each time checksum does not match. Also note that unmatched checksum is the same for the 3 downloads.

However, file size for download is correct.

I see that there are mirror sites for this download. Did you try downloading from different mirrors?. Are they all showing the same problem?

Can you please try to setld -l on that and see whether you get the error gzip corrupt input?

Yes and it is the same.

What is strange is that when we do a checksum on each of the files downloaded from different machines, the checksum gives us exactly the same figure for each one of them.

I had the same problem once, the download on different machines gaved to me checksum errors.

Then I changed the program to download the file (I used wget), and the file finally downloaded correctly.
