Re: framework error: subsystem 'ptstr' failure at boot.

I never saw this error before.

Is this a "fresh" installation or was a working system?

Try to boot using the genvmunix kernel:

boot -fi genvmunix -s

Run:

bcheckrc
swapon -a
lmf reset
doconfig

Recompile and copy the new kernel to /

Try to boot again. How the problem started? The system crashed?

Did you changed something on the hardware? 4.0F is very sensitive to disk changes.

Re: framework error: subsystem 'ptstr' failure at boot.

Looks like you may have some entries in the /etc/sysconfigtab file that no longer match your H/W or OS configuration. As Ivan points out earlier versions of Tru64 are particularly sensitive to these kinds of issues. Look for "pt:" or "ptstr:" sections in the sysconfigtab file and see if you can figure out what they are trying to do.

Re: framework error: subsystem 'ptstr' failure at boot.

Hi Dominique,

It looks like the hardware used by DECss7 is missing on your system. The hardware should be a DNBE1/DNBT1 board used for connection to signalling system 7.

Thanks and regards.

Re: framework error: subsystem 'ptstr' failure at boot.

Thank you very much for your help.

I am very impressed by the many fast responses.

For information: it's not a new installation, but the restore of another system.

I have DECss7 installed on my server but no DENBE1. It is certainly my problem. I try to uninstall DECss7 and reboot. I would give you the response in a few days.

Dominique
