it's been too long that I was shopping for ES40 hardware so I solicit your advice...
Recently, our network was upgraded to gigabit and I need to know which gigabit ethernet card would work well in a ES40 (Tru64 v5.1b). My search so far revealed DEGPA-TA or 3X-DEGXA-TA.
(I am looking for copper wire not fibre optics)
The prices (mostly refurbished) range from $500 - $1500. First I don't know the difference (specs) between the two parts. Also, is gigabit ethernet technology still that expensive ?
Thanks for any advice.
Lothar

DEGPA-TA is under "Retiring Models"
3X-DEGXA-TA is under "End-of-Life Models"
Features seems to be the same. Considering "age" parameters, you should go for DEGXA.

Re: Gigabit Ethernet Card info
But 3X-DEGXA-TB is also working OK.
I have one TRU64 5.1B PK4 machine working OK and two OpenVMS 8.2 machines working OK with 3X-DEGXA-TB.
Is gigabit ethernet technology still expensive?
No, but alpha server options are.
If looking for supported option, get 3X-DEGXA-TA, otherwise get 3X-DEGXA-TB.
Not in supported list does not mean not working. It just was not tested long enough.
