how do i get my License details for Alpha ES45 server.

we have 2 node cluster installed on Alpha ES45 machine with RA3000 storage and oracle 9i RAC installed.
we want to reinstall the server with EVA 4100 but the problem is, we lost the Licence papers.
can someone tell me, how i can get the license details from the server or shall i call to hp?

Have a look into the LICENSE ISSUE command, esp. the /PROCEDURE qualifier, which creates a command procedure to reenter the license.
Note that licenses ISSUED are marked DISBALED and must be ENABLED to load again.

It makes a replica of the existing license(s) with all the data needed to enter them into another license database.

But what do You "reinstall" , what is loosing the existing license database ?
A copy of the system disk does not remove the license database, this is VMS, not MSwin.

this is an openvms forum not tru64 unix, what licenses are these ? just to add fc storage and migrate data - you need a license ?

Pls. note that Tru64 has the lmf command also. A short look into manpages reveiled, that a ISSUE command is also available.

Hi,

The command "lmf list" or "lmf list full" will show you what licenses are installed, however it won't give you the checksum that you need to reinstall...

Rather than reinstalling, why not just vdump/vrestore the disks to the new storage. That would be much less risky.

Which version of Tru64 is it.
just check to see if lmf is ther as suggested above.
I do not have a system currently to tell you exact licences path but I think u search system by lmf and small digging would reach you to licence file.

Hi,

As per the man page for lmf, the license databases are held in /usr/var/adm/lmf.

You should be able to copy this directory to the new system.

I haven't got a V5.x machine to test on at the moment, but on 4.0D, you can find the checksums in /var/adm/lmf/ldb_history, with the strings command.

# strings /var/adm/lmf/ldb_history

What was wrong with _that_ suggestion?

If you make a copy of the license data base,
and do the "issue" from the copy, you won't
even bother the real license data base.
