Re: how to upgrade bind
The implementation of DNS in Tru64 UNIX is based on Version 8.2.2 of the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) service, which is maintained by the Internet Software Consortium (ISC).
If you want to install BIND Version 9, you can obtain the software from the Internet Express for Tru64 UNIX kit (formerly Open Source Internet Solutions), a collection of popular Open Source software that HP distributes on a CD-ROM. For more information about Internet Express, see the following URL:
http://tru64unix.compaq.com/internet/prod_sol.htm
You will find the Tru64-manuals at this URL:

Regards,
Erich

Re: how to upgrade bind
the documentation for Internet Express CD can be found at: http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/pub_page/osis64.htm
HP includes the Internet Express CD-ROMs with Tru64 UNIX AlphaServerTM systems. If you need the Internet Express CD-ROMs, you can contact your HP representative. The part number for the Internet Express kit is QB-3NCAA-SA. The CD contains the installable binaries for bind.
If applicable, the source-code can be found at:
http://www.isc.org/index.pl
Regards, Erich.

Re: how to upgrade bind
Or you can simply get a public version of bind from the web and work in an unsupported manner if you are not currently paying for support.
The big advantage of the IX kits is that they install using setld which is often much easier than trying to peice together a kit and its dependents from public sources....then trying to get through the compile stage.....
