Re: Important ITRC Note for Compaq product users

Hi Mohamed,

It is still online....however, if you can't find it, below I've pasted the information:

****************
>>Important Note for Compaq Product Users - How to Use the ITRC

Following is important information about how to use the HP IT Resource Center (ITRC) to access your favorite Compaq support tools. At this one-stop resource site for IT professionals, you can search Compaq and HP technical databases, download Compaq and HP software and drivers, log and track support cases online, engage in forums discussions, and much more.

>>register to access extensive tools for Compaq and HP products

You have options when you use the ITRC. You can access many Compaq tools without registering on the ITRC, but you will need to register to take full advantage of the ITRC's resources. By registering, you can access a broader range of freely available services that cover both Compaq and HP products and offer added resources to help you maintain your environment.

These services include a dynamic community of support forums, the patch database, select online training programs, and more. Access to these services requires ITRC registration, but does not require a support agreement.

>>how to register

To register, simply go to the registration page and follow the instructions on the log in screen. When you have completed registration, you can click to the ITRC home page to get started choosing the services you need. Once you have registered on the ITRC, you will simply log in with your user ID and password when using the site.

>>do I need to link my Compaq support agreement?

When you register, you do not need to link your Compaq support agreement. You can ignore the steps that would allow you to link a support agreement unless you have a System Handle, associated with HP support agreements, or a Service Agreement ID, associated with the new HP support agreements. (For more information on the new support agreements, click here).

While the ITRC linking process is required for access to certain HP-product focused support services, the linking process does not support identifiers such as System Serial Number and Obligation ID, which are primarily associated with pre-merger Compaq support agreements.

Without linking a Compaq support agreement, registered users can access Compaq support services on the "maintenance and support for Compaq products" section and can access other free Compaq and HP services throughout the site (such as the forums, the patch database, etc). The ITRC also offers links to a wide range of Compaq support services that do not require ITRC registration.

>>how to find your favorite Compaq tools

If you're coming to the ITRC to find a Compaq support tool you may have used on the Compaq support site, you can go directly to the "maintenance and support for Compaq products" section found on the ITRC home page. You will find software and drivers, natural language search assistant, reference library, warranty information, web-based case management, system and software management, and more. These tools do not require registration.

Other valuable resources can be found in the forums, training, and maintenance and support for HP sections of the ITRC. For example, registered ITRC users can now access Tru64Unix and OpenVMS patches directly through the ITRC patch database (by choosing "individual patches" on the home page) and take advantage of improved search capabilities, automatic identification of dependent patches, and downloads of multiple patches in a single operation. Registered users can also access a wide range of Support Forums covering Compaq product related categories in the areas of servers, storage, software, and workstations. The Support Forums are an invaluable resource for gathering advice, sharing best practices, and learning lessons from technical peers.

To learn more about the extensive Compaq and HP tools and services available on the ITRC, see this online introduction.

>>for more information

For questions on linking support agreements or using the ITRC, select " contact hp" in the upper left portion of the page and use the "ask a question about using the IT resource center" link.
