Jobs getting stuck using Advanced Printing
Hi all,
We have been experiencing a problem with Advanced Printing for several years. It is becoming increasingly troublesome.
Frequently, but maybe particularly in periods of more intense printing, various physical printers get stuck.
One job is in "processing" state in the queue, but never goes to the printer. Several other jobs wait behind.
The only thing we can do is to either stop the supervisor and restart it, or to temporarily create a new physical object (when we do so, the jobs drain to this new physical object, except for the one job that got blocked and held all the others. A restart of the supervisor is necessary to free that one up.).
The physical printers for which we have problems seem to be mostly associated with OBG type connections (port 515), although I'm not sure about the 9100 type connections.
Has anybody experienced this?
thanks,
Denis

Re: Jobs getting stuck using Advanced Printing
Suggestion...
I would try setting the timeout on the printer to a higher value.
I have used timeout values of 600 or 900 on HP printers.

Re: Jobs getting stuck using Advanced Printing
(This applies to HP printers or JetDirect boxes)
telnet to the printer
"?" shows help (and available settings)
"/" shows current configuration
syntax may be "timeout:600" (I can't check at the moment)
"exit" discards any changes
"quit" saves changes
