Lost license pack
I'm trying to help support a customer in another state. (I work for a HP reseller.) They had the hard drive fail on one of their servers. Hard read/write errors. It would come up in single-user mode, so it could read at least a fair amount of the drive. But it would not fsck successfully. So, replaced the hard drive and did a reinstall from CD. But, the customer can't find his licence pack. I'm sure we sold him valid Tru64 4.0D licences.
So, I'm trying to figure out what to do. I'm wondering if the failed hard drive might be alive enough to copy the ldb from, but I've never tried doing anything like that and I don't know how good it would work. I'm not sure I could successfully mount the drive as a second drive. And I also have the handicap of not being at the site, I'm having to talk the customer through any suggestions. Any ideas?
