monitor/display problem

When booting up, I see the text-portion of the boot process. When the OS takes control of the boot process (i.e. when I should see a graphical image)the display goes blank and the monitor loses its signal. Any ideas???

Hi,

has this worked before and have you tried another monitor?

Re: monitor/display problem

I bet you replaced the monitor and the refresh rate is too high and the monitor cannot support it.

The quick way is to modify the /usr/dt/config/Xservers, and change:

:0 Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X :0

To:

:0 Local local@console /usr/bin/X11/X -vsync0 60 :0

Restart the server or xlogin.

Read the file header for detailed instructions because this file can be replaced during an OS upgrade.

Re: monitor/display problem

It has worked in the past. One day, I noticed the monitor was blank. I swapped out the monitor and it still didnt work so I thought it was the KVM switch. Replaced the KVM and it still didnt work. When I plug the old monitor or the new monitor directly into the server I get the same result (as mentioned in my original post).
