Re: Slow Telnet Response
99% of that kind of problem are naming resolution problems. so check your dns etc.

Re: Slow Telnet Response
Anwar,
Check to see if your ethernet interface is set to 100 base. Also make sure that the name resolution is ok
1. Is it only a particular host that you are
seeing this slow response with? If so i
suggest that you add an entry in the
local hosts file at /etc/hosts.
2. If item#1 doesn't help, i would check in
the DECevent logs to see if there are
any ethernet interface related errors
Can u perform some simple tests like
1. Telnetting to other hosts and let us know
if you see the same slowness. Try to
telnet to a host on a different network
segment.
2. Do you see any TCP/IP components related
slowness on this host
regards
Mobeen

Re: Slow Telnet Response
Anwar,
One more thing as advised earlier, if your n/w supports 100, then i would go ahead and set the ethernet interface on the host to 100 instead of 10/100 (autonegotiate)
regards
Mobeen
