Can you also post the results of:

df -ik /dir2
showfdmn domain_name
showfsets domain_name fset_name

Where domain and fset name corresponds to the one that holds /dir2

I think Ferreira is right. It is defiantly just because of your quota limitation on your destination Fileset (/dir2) where you try to copying your 52 GB data. Nothing related to ulimit.

Can you also post the results of:

#/sbin/advfs/vdf -k -l domain#fileset
