Unable to mount /usr, /var

hi,

i have Alpha DS25 server with Tru64 5.1 installed on it. due to unknown reason system powered down, when i tried to boot the OS, system goto in single user mode giving this error

======================================
security configuration set to default (BASE).
open /etc/sia/matrix.conf: Invalid argument
File /etc/sia/matrix.conf not foundSIA initialization failure
Please fix the configuration problem (use siacfg) and reboot.

*******************************************
SIA INITIALIZATION ERROR
THIS REBOOT WILL RETURN TO SINGLE USER MODE
TO REPAIR THE SIA SECURITY CONFIGURATION
*******************************************
If necessary, the following commands can be used
to restore to the installation defaults in case
the /etc/sia/matrix.conf file is bad:
/sbin/bcheckrc
cd /etc/sia
mv -f matrix.conf matrix.bad
: > matrix.conf
/usr/sbin/siacfg -l BSD libc.so
# or, for Enhanced Security:
/usr/sbin/siacfg -l OSFC2 /usr/shlib/libsecurity.so

INIT: SINGLE-USER MODE
==================================

At this point all file systems are ok and i have mounted all filesystems in single user mode.

Then i checked matrix.conf file in /etc/sia but ther was no such file exist in this directory. then i have created new matrix.conf file with this command

#: > matrix.conf
and then execute this command

#/usr/sbin/siacfg -l BSD libc.so

and reboot the server. but after rebooting system is giving this error.

Re: Unable to mount /usr, /var

Hi,

You would appear to have a disk or LSM problem, as /usr and /var haven't mounted correctly...

Cheers,

Re: Unable to mount /usr, /var

Please do the following and post output:
boot to single user mode and do
# voldisk list
# voldctl enable
# voldisk list
# mount -a
In vino veritas, in VMS cluster

Re: Unable to mount /usr, /var

I habe been in this problem a couple of timees and as far as i remember next rebooot in single user mode and bcheckrc resolve the issue.Check if file system are mounted.
Doesn't seems to be the case but if it(vladimir's thing)does not work you may have currupt file system and will have to try verify.

Kapil
