www.tru64.org, or look at ebay. Btw. a little bit late since roadmap will end ;-)

Re: what books best for someone just starting out with Tru64

Michael,

Alpha hardware parts are only available since 2006, from this time only refurbish material. 5.1b-4 will be the last release as taken from roadmap (maybe time to read it a little bit closer: sales ends 2006), currently we prepare to release 5.1b-3

So migrating to HPUX is on the way...

as i am new to tru64...and am the only one in my new company that will be supporting it, what is the best place to go to find out the realistic future of it

Re: what books best for someone just starting out with Tru64

have a look into the roadmap on http://www.tru64unix.compaq.com

Btw. depending on the version you are using newer stuff (>= 5.1A) is not part of any book I've seen. They only describes older versions (v4.x).

Best starting point is the online documentation delivered with the OS (documentation CD-Rom) and to prepare migration using the HPUX migration tools.

Have also a look into the HPUX documentation explaining the migration pathes and features taken from Tru64.

Greg,

Thank you for writing this book. And for TruCluster Server Handbook too. They both have proven to be invaluable resource for me.

Thanks,

Re: what books best for someone just starting out with Tru64

Ross,

And another thing... ;) There is another good book or two from Digital Press that might be helpful. Namely "Tru64 UNIX Troubleshooting" by Martin Moore and Steven Hancock, ISBN 1555582745 and "Tru64 UNIX File System Administration Handbook" by Steven Hancock, ISBN 1555582273. And for Database types "Tru64 UNIX-Oracle9i Cluster Quick Reference" by Tim Donar, ISBN 1555582729.

For the record, this isn't shamless self-promotion. My name doesn't appear on the spines of any of these. ;)
