What does this mean : Defering I/O (Error 5)
I've got an AlphStation DS10 which comes back to SRM after a few hours of work.
I made a small batch program which test the scsi channel.
After one hour running, I get the error : Defering I/O (Error 5).
I swap the scsi card and run the program an other time and I get the same error after a few hours.
Does it mean that the disk have a problem ?
Thanks

Re: What does this mean : Defering I/O (Error 5)
Yes, your disk has a problem. You could try to get more information with the "uerf -R | more" command.
When the disk will really fail, is hard to tell. But most of the times this is one of the first (and sometimes the last) error you will get.

uerf is not very helpful on a DS10. Time to open a call within the HP support center providing binary.errlog for analyze.
Help() { FirstReadManual(urgently); Go_to_it;; }

Thanks everyone for the answers....
In my case, it was the disk.... I change it and it's two days with no errors.
