X.25 Requirement and Configuration
We are having no's of 2 node ES40 cluster(MC) with HSG60 storage. OS is Tru64unix V4.0g .
We are planning to implement X.25 on our site and we want connectivity b/w Siemens EWSD switch and X.25 card on server.
IF someone there can help me in clearing my doubts .
1. Which cable /connector is needed to connect switch and X.25 card .I know there are many connectors like v.35, x.21, rs 232 and RS 530
2. What are the Hardware requirements to implement it ?
3.Is there any document which gives me the details abt configuration/installation of X.25 over Alpha/Tru64 unix.
4.Any other tips from the expert over their on this.
Regards
Vikram

The latest WAN software for V4.0g of Tru64 is V3.0b and the kit can be obtained from:
ftp://ftp1.support.compaq.com/public/dunix/v4.0g/wanosf/3.0b/
It is recommended you have the latest patch kit for V4.0g installed which is patch kit 3.
ftp://ftp1.support.compaq.com/public/dunix/v4.0g
File name: t64v40gas0003-20010613.tar
You can use the following web site to locate Network options for a ES40.
http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserver/options/ases40/ases40_options.html
WANOSF V3.0b supports the the Digi Synch 2000 WAN card.
This card comes in a 2-port and a 4-port version.

At the x25 layer one Tru64 and the Digi Synch 2000 card is a DTE and the
interface standard you need is driven by the DCE either the Siemens EWSD
switch or the CSU/DSU. Typically the CSU/DSU is delivered as part of the
X25 subscription. You need to purchase the correct cable when you purchase
the Digi card. So you will need to know what the conmmunication requirement
the Siemens requires and purchase the correct cable for the Digi Synch 2000.
>2. What are the Hardware requirements to implement it ?
You need a Sync WAN card.
>3.Is there any document which gives me the details abt

I put pdf copies of the WAN V3.0 docs on our ftp site.
Use a command line ftp client to connect to
xfer.support.compaq.com Log in as anonymous and use
your email address as a password (add a - infront of your
email address if the login appears to hang). Then cd to
the to_customer directory and do a binary get on the file
wan30-doc.tar.

Yes read the docs and the release notes first. If you
are not familure with X25 and NCL install in a development
enviroment first.

Re: X.25 Requirement and Configuration
You'll need to contact the person responsible for managing your X.25 switch and find out which physical interface type is being offered to your host.
Only then can you either purchase the appropriate cable or arrange to have the correct Digiboard option installed in your host.
It is also best to match the physical connection type between the network card and the switch rather than use cable adapters to match the
connector interface.
Hope this helps.
