X server mouse not repsonding when no keyboard plugged in
in a special environment, a DS25 with Tru64 5.1B/NHD7 will be operating with a mouse but with no keyboard attached (console is set to serial). The effect that we're seeing is that the mouse will not work when no keyboard is plugged in.
Is there a workaround for this problem?
Thanks,
Martin

Re: X server mouse not repsonding when no keyboard plugged in
when you disconnect the keyboard the DS25 switches to console=serial and there is no mouse needed. I doubt that there is a workaround. Besides what do you want to do with a mouse and without a keyboard. Don't you have a spare keyboard?
greetings,
Michael

As I wrote, this is a special environment with a mouse, a touchscreen (actually, three monitors) and a third-party X server.
We considered adding spare keyboards, but will probably go with a custom gadget emulating the keyboard instead (customer doen't want to have keyboards lying around).

I don't think mouse is supported in the console mode. Has it worked for you before?

Even with the console set to serial, the X server comes up on the (first) monitor. The mouse pointer is there, but is not movable.
With the third-party X server, no login is required, as the application is immediately started.
At first we thought it to be a bug in the third-party X server, but it's the same with the standard Tru64 X server, so we now think the mouse port is rendered dead by hardware.

Martin
