Having issues remediating ESXi host - Unable to download VIB
My company has been trying for a few days now to update our ESXi host using Oneview and Oneview for vCenter.
Initially, we had an issue where the compliance check was coming back 'Unknown' but we found via this forum that if we set the firmware baseline to 'Managed Manually', it will pass the compliance check.
Next step was to try to remediate a host. However, that has failed with an error "Cannot download VIB 'https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/HPE%20Synergy%20Service%20Pack-SY-2024.01.02/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/vib20/sut/HPE_bootbank_sut_701.4.6.0.7-1OEM.701.0.0.16850804.vib'. This might be because of network issues or the specified VIB does NOT exist or does NOT have a proper 'read' privilege set. Make sure the specified VIB exists and is accessible from vCenter Server."
Initially thought it was firewall but did not see any missing permits there.
Patch Setup shows "https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/uuibshar/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/index.xml" Tried to curl to that from vCenter, worked.
How about "https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/uuibshar/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/vendor-index.xml"? That works too.
"https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/uuibshar/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-metadata.zip"? Yep, that works.
The zip manifest gives a relative path, "vib20/sut/HPE_bootbank_sut_701.4.6.0.7-1OEM.701.0.0.16850804.vib" so how about "https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/uuibshar/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/vib20/sut/HPE_bootbank_sut_701.4.6.0.7-1OEM.701.0.0.16850804.vib". Works perfectly fine.
The question we have now is why is the remediation trying to go to 'https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/HPE%20Synergy%20Service%20Pack-SY-2024.01.02/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/vib20/sut/HPE_bootbank_sut_701.4.6.0.7-1OEM.701.0.0.16850804.vib' when 'https://happy.place.com:3512/static/vsphere-web-client/uuibshar/HPE-703.0.0.11.5.5.7-Jan2024-Synergy-Addon-depot/vib20/sut/HPE_bootbank_sut_701.4.6.0.7-1OEM.701.0.0.16850804.vib' seems to be the URL to use?
Tried syncing updates again from vCenter Lifecycle manager but unfortunately no change to remediation error.
Hoping someone here might have a better idea than us.
vCenter 7.0.3, Build 24026615
OneView 8.90.00-0490022
OneView for vCenter 11.6

Re: Having issues remediating ESXi host - Unable to download VIB
It seems like the remediation process is using an incorrect URL, possibly due to some misconfiguration within the OneView or vCenter environment.
Firstly, cross check update repository is configured correctly within OneView for vCenter.
Check out if thereтАЩs an inconsistency between the patch baselines defined in vCenter Lifecycle Manager and OneView.
lastly, clear the cache for the update repository and force a resync from both vCenter and One
I hope this helps. Let me know.
