How to install vmware 5.5 U3 on DL380G10

We have trying to install vmware 5.5u3 on DL380 Gen 10 with HPE Smart Array P408i-a.
But vmware 5.5 can't found the HDDs (logical volume).

Would you guide me how to get the useable/suitable driver of P408i-a and solve this issue if it is possible?

Thank you all !

BR,
Richard

Hello Richard,

The server model DL380 Gen10, which you have mentioned is not supported for ESXi 5.5 U3, supported version is ESXi 6.0 U3 and above

Support Matrix URLs:

https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=server&details=1&partner=515&releases=369&systemTypes=2&page=1&display_interval=100&sortColumn=Partner&sortOrder=Asc

Even with supported verion you need to download the HPE Custom ESXi Image for installation or build one, the details are available in the above HPE Server Support Matrix link

Re: How to install vmware 5.5 U3 on DL380G10

Dear Indus,

Thank you for your kind information!

I knew DL380 Gen10 is not supported for ESXi 5.5 U3, supported version is ESXi 6.0 U3 and above.
Just our customer don't want to pay the additional cost for vmware upgrade. We have tried to do many methods and still can't install vmware 5.5u3 on Dl380 Gen10 (Smart Array P408i-a).

Hope the experts can provide the resolution.

Thank you again!

BR,

Richard

VMware 5.5 is end-of-life in less than two weeks (September 19, 2018).  Please upgrade to something newer soon.
