HPE custom image for Gen 8

I know this is the latest image for Gen 9 "VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update3-6921384", can I use it for Gen 8 or do I have to use this "VMware-ESXi-6.0.0-Update3-5050593" for Gen 8 Proliants. Or do I just use the older image for the Gen 8s and then just patch VMware OS to 6921384?

Things have been updated since March of this year when you posted your question... As of 2018-09-07 http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/ recommends the following for ESXi 6.0 and Gen8 hardware :
