Vmware Integration
A client of mine has the following infrastructure:
3 nodes ESX cluster plus a vCenter, I've managed to successfully install DP/VMware integration in one of the ESX nodes and in the vCenter...having said that here're my questions:
- I don't see any kind of "vmware integration" stuff when I try to create a backup, only filesystem. Should I see something like Oracle Integration?
- I can't browse vmfs folder in the ESX server
I've been ITRCing and googleing about this issues but with no satisfactory answers.
thnx in advance

Re: Vmware Integration
I still can't see any VM or browse /vmfs in the ESX server, I've been reading the Integration Manual for 6.1 (sorry I omitted that before), I'm backing up the ESX and the vCenter as a F/S, but I can't get to configure any of the VM's...
any thought???
maybe licensing?

Re: Vmware Integration
No VMware Integration found!! That's one of my problems. I installed from the manual but it seems that something is wrong...Did you apply some "special" installation procedure?
thnx for the reply...

Re: Vmware Integration
if you select your ESX server and V-center client in DP GUI, is the VMware integration listed in the DP agents installed ??
if not, i suggest you to delete these clients form DP GUI, without desinstalling DP software, then import them again in the DP cell.

Re: Vmware Integration
If it doesn't work, try to uninstall and install again DP on your ESX and V-center

Re: Vmware Integration
Is it possible that the issue has something to do with licensing? in omnicc don't see any VMware related license...

Re: Vmware Integration
Licences are no needed to configure, but only to start backups, so this is no a licence related problem.
My question could sounds like stupid, but are you sure that your Cell manager is DP 6.1 and not lower ?

Re: Vmware Integration
OK, I'got some new info, VMware platform isn't seeing the backup zone (till' next weekend)...which explains why I can't browse /vmfs... but still don't see VMware Integration under "Backup Specifications" could the zoning issue be the cause of the problem?

Re: Vmware Integration
...but, I've seen that document, and as a matter of fact, every doc that comes with DP 6.1, and none explains what is causing this particular issue...Installation was done from the c01768750.pdf...I've been reading also the Troubleshooting, and nothing yet....

Re: Vmware Integration
In my example I've chosen View->By Type.
I no longer see "VMware" after I select "By Name" or "By Group". I can still configure a VMware specification:
- select "Add Backup"
- I see two tabs in the new window:
-- Filesystem and VMware
- press [OK] and I can continue
