Hi all,
seeking clarity on the issue of the SMX VIB which was part of the HPE Customer ESXi image prior to 7.03 (build 24026615). I have some questions about what devices this particular VIB covers? We have a dozen more more DL380 GEN 10 Servers in a number of ESXi clusters currently running this version. I saw the error on VCenter for "The Small Footprint CIM Broker Daemon (SFCBD) is running, but no data has been reported. You may need to install a CIM provider for your storage adapter..." which lead me to the notification page at HPE stating that the SMX vib was being retired. I assume this notice applied to ALL GEN 10 related kit. But can someone confirm what hardware device monitoring is covered by this VIB at the VCENTER level? Is it just internal RAID or is ALL storage adaptor types? Can't seem to find any detail on that. Just trying to plug the gaps in the monitoring for these hosts.
The internal controllers we have are
HPE NS204i-p Gen10+ Boot Controller (firmware 1.2.14.1013)
HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 (firmware 6.52)
Assume no other adaptor types are impacted (most of which are network FC or SFP+ 16gb/10gb) network.... and these are still monitored from within the VCenter...
thanks.
Adam.

SolutionHello,
I am not able to come up with the but, this CUSTOMER ADVISORY Document ID: a00117054en_us, seems to talk about the various components mentioned above. Please review it and see if it is of any help.

Re: VMware-The Small Footprint CIM Broker Daemon (SFCBD) is not running ESXi VCenter
< Edit - the above link appears to show the scope of impact for the SMX Provider - it's basically all internal raid cards as far as I can work out>
