8200e Problem

Every time I try ot burn a disc with my 8200e, I receive an error which says that the discs I'm using are scratched or dirty.

The discs I'm using are not scratched or dirty. All the drivers are updated as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is what I get when I hit the "Advanced" button on the error message.

Re: 8200e Problem

You're getting a "buffer underrun". This can occur when the stream of data that's being transferred to the writer is interrupted. It can be caused by, in your case:
1. Low system resources (other programs "TSRs" running in the background, unnoticed)
2. Other USB devices being plugged in at the same time as the writer and hogging the USB bandwidth
3. Incorrect recordable media (usually too fast i.e 1-24x cdr in a 1-4x drive)

I do tech support for HP D/DVD Writers and I can tell you that these are the top three causes of the error you're experiencing.

If you let me know more about your computer (O/S, RAM, Mhz, etc.), I could probably narrow it down a bit more. :)

Re: 8200e Problem

What you can try doing and this usually works every time...is using the CDW as both Source and Destination drive. This means that you use the CDW to copy the CD to the Harddrive first and once this is finished you will be asked for a blank CD.Do do this you go into MyCD/Record Now and choose to copy a CD...you will then be asked to insert the CD you want to copy and your CDRom/DVD Drive will open.Close the drive and don't put anything into it.Then on the screen change the 'Drive to Read from' to the HP Drive. The HP Drive will then eject and you have to put the CD you want to copy into here.Click 'Next' and the software will start to cache the CD to the Harddrive.Once this is finished you will be asked for a blank disk and then the CD will be copied from the Harddrive to the blank disk.As I said, this is the most reliable way to do a copy.Let me know how you got on.
