8200f aka 8230e - problems upon problems
Hey everyone, hope someone can help me, I've noticed on this forum that there is a lot of problems with this particular cd writer, so here's mine.
I'm running win 98se, pII - 266,64mg ram.
My cd writer will not completely format a cd, of any kind. If I try to format a cd-r using directcd, it seems to format in about 1 second, and tells me that I should be able to read and write to it using windows explorer, but when I try to do just that, it says the device is not accessible, when I try to run directcd on it again to check it out, it tells me that there is unrecognized data on the cd and its now pretty much a coaster. A lot of times it tells me that the format has been successful and it will be under directcd's control in about a minute. Previously when it did this, I would get the dialog box which gives me the option to let it be read by other cd readers, but it now doesn't. I get the "under directcd's control" box for about 3 seconds and it dissappears, leaving the cd useless.
So now I try to use recordnow 3.5. I try to do an exact copy of a cd and it tells me to insert a blank cd. I do this and then it ejects it and prompts me to insert a blank cd again. I did this 4 times yesterday until it finally accepted one (they were all new cd's)and it did the exact copy. The only problem is, it cannot be read in my normal dvd/cd player. Nothing I do can let me read a copied cd on my internal cd reader.
I know this post kinda ran long, anyone have any ideas? It would be greatly appreciated.
