HP CD Writer 8100+ with Direct CD - Medium NO Ready error!

HP CD Writer 8100+ with Direct CD - Medium NO Ready error!

I am using a HP 8100+ CD Writer on a HP Pavilion 8575C with Windows 98 SE. I have Adaptec DirectCD v2.5d and Easy CD Creator v3.5c.

I am NOT able to format any CD-RW disk with DirectCD. I am also NOT able to erase any CD-RW disk with DirectCD. I am getting the SAME message: "Medium is NOT Ready".

I also have a Hitachi DVD-ROM drive which came with the system. I have tried to disable DMA access on both the CD Writer and the DVD-ROM drive. It did NOT solve the problem !

I am using IMATION 1x-4x compatible CD-RW discs.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
