9300i
won't burn drag and drop or do complete copies of data or music CDS.
HP tell me they haven't put software on line yet as its' unavailable. (I have just installed XP) The phone help (HP) says its due. The website makes no mention of anything - annoying as they have just put new software for 9300 on site but make NO mention of saying "don't try to burn CDs yet via XP yet! Surely they could have said software is unavailable so far - annoyingly vague

Re: 9300i
Features supported by the Windows XP IDE driver [back to table of contents]
The Windows XP IDE driver allows the operating system to detect the HP CD-Writer and other IDE devices on the system. The HP CD-Writer drives will function as a standard CD-ROM drive and will be able to read CDs.
Features not supported with the Windows XP IDE driver [back to table of contents]
The HP CD-Writer drive will function as a reader using the IDE driver. However, Windows XP-compatible CD recording software is needed to allow the drive to write to CD-R and CD-RW media.
Download HP CD-Writer software for Windows XP [back to table of contents]
Updated CD recording software for Windows XP will be available to download free of charge from the HP Web site shortly after the official release of Windows XP.
If a hard copy of the software is desired, a CD may be ordered for $9.95 shipping and handling.
