9500i, cannot write

I am using a cd-writer 9500i try to copy a cd by using Nero. The device worked very well when I was using Hp medias no matter cd-r or cd-rw yesterday. However, when I used Sony cd-rw today, the device failed to write data to Sony media and returned message said "it is not writeable cd-rom".

I don't know what is wrong, is it the problem of the Sony's cd-rw?

If you put the disc into the CD-ROM drive on the same system does it show it as an Audio disc?
If you have Windows Media player 7 unistall it and test again.

Hi Gavin:

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

I put the cd-rw into my CD-ROM device, it is said that it is DirectCD, actually, it is a blank one I just unpacked, any way I can remove it?

It maybe just the media type, can you try a different brand of CDRW? Will a CDR format?

Re: 9500i, cannot write

I had the same problem with Windows 98 (second edition). I purchased Nero Burn CD and it works great. Aparently there is a software problem with Record Now. So, if you don't mind spending a little cash, I recommend getting another program besides Record Now.
