i've had windows xp for about a month now, and for that month i've been waiting drivers for my cd burner. hp claimed they would be available when xp was officially released (oct. 25). anyway, they're not there. i was wondering if anyone's tried using the windows 2000 drivers. they usually work with most hardware but they're really confusing me with this drive. any help would be much appreciated.

I have used the 2000 drivers in XP with the 8220e, but I get an I/O error anytime I try to access the drive.

I really wish HP would solve this....

I have tried useing the 2000 drivers with the 7200e installed under XP.

Short answer - They don't work.

Long Answer - When you install them and have the HP7200e turned on, it will slow your system down almost to a crawl (can't move mouse, typing lags WAY behind, etc.). At least, that is what it did to my system. Had to un-install the drivers, and everything went back to normal.

I also am waiting on the 7200e drivers. I hope they hurry up.
