CD-Writer Plus 8100 Series

My CD writer worked fine using NT but when I upgraded to XP I get the following error when attempting to start the program, "Create a CD"

DirectCD 2 has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows and might not run as expected. Drivers installed by this program might cause system instability, including problems with Shut Down/Restart and the inability to use a DVD drive. For more information, contact Roxio, Inc..

I will contact Roxio Inc but it would prefer resolving the problem from HP who I purchased the drive from. There are no new drivers listed for XP upgrade however one can purchase HP Record Now 3.5 which does not appear to offer the same writing flexibility which the original software provides. I would appreciate any feedback as to how to resolve this problem.

Thanks Allen Stock astock@io.com

PS...
This sounds like the original design for CD-writer did not conform to Microsoft's software interface standards and I am now sufering the consequence. I had to resolve a similar type of driver incompatibability problem with my HP ScanJet 5370C which is document on this forum

If you want people to think you are wise, agree with them.

U never tell which version of Easy CD and Direct cd, u are using. If u use the bundled version it is not supported in XP. I recommend that u contact Roxio if u have problems with easy cd creator. But at hp.com u can download Hp record now. Shure it does not have any functions as burning iso files. But it works.

Re: CD-Writer Plus 8100 Series

Download and use DLA and Record Now from HP.com. That is the only solution that HP offers for this issue.
