CD Writer plus 8200

I installed a new hard drive and when I try to use the burner I get a bus reset error when i try to format a cdrw or cdr. I have the burner on the second ide channel as master and am running it under mode 3 with DMA off of both the hard drive and burner like the manual says. Any suggestions?
