CD Writer PLus 8200e (USB) driver for Adaptec Take Two

Using Adaptec Take Two backup. I cannot restore from my 8200e because it uses a USB connection and does not show up as a DOS drive letter during the restore. The problem has been identified by Adaptec who recommend contacting HP for the relevant driver. Can anyone at HP help?

Win98 OS
Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02

See attached from Adaptec:
As mentioned in the Emergency Boot Floppy Disk Overview, Take Two creates a bootable disk that can handle most Adaptec host adapters, SCSI and ATAPI CD-ROM/CD-R/RW, and SCSI Zip and Jaz drives. The default boot floppy disk does not handle the following three exceptions:

1. Not relevant
2. CD-ROM and CD-R/RW devices connected through PCMCIA, USB, and parallel ports -

3. Zip and Jaz drives connected through ATAPI or parallel ports.

NOTE: If your destination drive (where your backup set will be written) falls into one of these three categories, then you must customize your boot floppy disk, or you will not be able to successfully boot and restore your computer in an emergency. Also, this may not be an exhaustive list of all the cases that require boot floppy disk customization.

NOTE: If you have one of the systems above, you do not have adequate protection from a system failure without customizing and Testing the Emergency Boot Floppy Disk.

You can customize the floppy disk in one of the following ways:

1. For devices other than DirectCD compatible CD-ROM and CD-R/RW you must load drivers that make the device show up as a DOS drive letter. Anything attached to a drive letter is accessible to the Emergency Restore Utility. For example, for ATAPI and parallel Zip you may only have to load the (Iomega) Guest program from the (Iomega) Emergency Boot Floppy Disk autoexec.bat file. Contact your device vendor to find out how to assign your device a drive letter in DOS.

Re: CD Writer PLus 8200e (USB) driver for Adaptec Take Two

Guys this message thread is very long, but I too have problems with my Iomega Zip CD. I'll try out the recommended fix and see what the result is!
